In Production: Music to documentary “Shadow of the Condor”

It has been a good start, the first week of initial drafts to Shadow of the Condor – a documentary film on the recovery of the California Condor.
For starters it has been all about getting into the story, to go through the scenes getting a grip on the general tone and feel. It already features a bunch of my songs from the library, but some scenes calls for new edits and custom work.
Watching the clips on the magnificent Condors in flight, I got very inspired and first out came an idea to the song “Natural View” based on mandolin, zither, acoustic guitar, bass and electric guitar swells.

Use multiple tracks!
Licenses are based on seconds of use only, meaning you can take full advantage of using multiple songs, the price will be the same no matter how many songs you use in the same project.

Is there any hidden charges like annual renewals?
No. It’s a one time fee only per project/production without end user time limit, ie no annual renewals!

Do I have to pay extra when using the same music in different films or versions within the same project?
No, but it depends on the project. Generally speaking the license is based on amount of viewers so you don’t have to pay extra as long as it is within one coherent project. There are some limits though. A unique project can’t last more than 2 years and gaps between working on/off no longer than 3 months. Still there’s a workaround – a “rate x 3″ one-time fee option to cover all future sub-projects to the same end user client. Also if you use longer parts of music in the future to the same client, the difference only from first order will be invoiced. To use this option to its fullest extent will give you an opportunity to “buy out” some tracks to be used as a trademark or part of the brand for the end user client.

Wishlist
If you feel any type of music or genre is missing, please feel free to send a request and I’ll add it to my todo list, trying to come up with something interesting within reasonable time.

Format
Logged in clients can choose between 48 kHz/24 bit or 320kbps mp3 files. Demos and dowloads available for all are in low-res 64kbps mp3 format, the “low-res” is especially notable on acoustic tracks. Contact Niklas Aman if you need other formats.

I’m a music catalogue client, can I change my password?
Yes, go to the settings menu and change it to what suits you best.

Terms of use

For you only
The Full Access library is offered in confidence. The music is intended for visual media and visual productions like broadcast, film, games and multimedia.

License type
The standard license gives client upon payment the non-exclusive right to use master recordings and synchronization rights to visual media, such as film, videos, broadcast, webpages, photos, slideshows, software, apps to iPhone, iPad or Android devices, multimedia, showcases, art and events. Included is also the duplication right to make copies of your work, on dvds for example. If not stated differently, all licenses are per project based, limited to estimated viewers but without any end date.

The license doesn’t include rights to public performances, for instance a broadcast or a theatrical release. This is handled by each country’s PRO (performance rights organization), i.e. BMI, ASCAP, PRS, STIM, SOCAN, GEMA, etc. This usually isn’t a problem though since most broadcasters usually have blanket deals or similar with their PRO.

Definition of limits to a project

Still there’s a workaround – a “rate x 3″ one-time fee option to cover all future sub-projects to the same end user client. Also if you use longer parts of music in the future to the same client, the difference only from first order will be invoiced. To use this option to its fullest extent will give you an opportunity to “buy out” some tracks to be used as a trademark or part of the brand for you or the end user client.

Workflow and usage
Download the tracks you are interested in. Upon usage, fill in the online music report or send an email. You will then be invoiced and payments are made through IBAN or PayPal. If you prefer you can use the express license. Invoices and payments can be made in USD, EUR, GBP or SEK.

Your productions must not violate human rights or be harmful to others in any way. You may not use my tracks in any pornographic material or extreme political/religious propaganda. You may not use the music or parts of the music in other music productions.
You may not sell, give away, lend, lease, copy, publish on network or distribute the music to other parties in any form apart from being naturally included when licensed to your film or visual media.
